Valerie Hannon

Valerie Hannon is a Co-Founder of Innovation Unit. With a background in leadership of education systems, research, teaching, and capacity building, she is now an established thought leader in the field of education innovation.

She has been consultant in support of change programmes in numerous systems, including the UK, Victoria, British Columbia, Tasmania, South Australia, Finland, 3 US States  and in Europe.


Valerie is a founding member and Director of the Global Education Leaders Partnership (GELP) supporting jurisdictions globally to scale their innovation and transform their systems.


Valerie is senior consultant to the OECD Innovative Learning Environments program. She leads the IU team supporting the Australian schools innovation initiative Learning Frontiers sponsored by AITSL.


She is a regular keynote speaker and facilitator at international conferences and workshops. Valerie’s publications include Learning A Living: radical innovation in education for work (Bloomsbury, 2012) as lead author; and Redesigning Education: shaping learning systems around the globe (Booktrope, May 2013) which she co-authored. Valerie presented the findings of Learning a Living at the event: 'Social Innovation in the Marketplace: Getting our Young People Back into Jobs'.
