Our impact
The Climate Change Plan consultation is a once-in-a-generation chance to shape climate action in Scotland up to 2040. It includes policies and proposals that Scotland needs to achieve net zero and end their contribution to increasing global emissions and deliver real benefits for people across Scotland. The Plan will influence and make decisions that affect how people in Scotland live, travel, and support nature recovery – so communities must have a say and be heard. Fife Community Climate Action Network commissioned Innovation Unit to prepare and facilitate a process to rapidly engage members in the consultation, and turn member insights into a response for the Scottish Government.
The approach
Innovation Unit ran three stakeholder engagement workshops with Climate Action Hub members from Fife and East Lothian, where we presented context for the Climate Change Plan, and facilitated discussions around pre-selected questions from the Plan. We analysed insights from the workshops to inform the response, and developed a technical final response for FIfe Community Climate Action Network to submit.
We created an open-source toolkit for Climate Action Hubs to use to prepare their own consultation responses, along with templates and tools for workshop facilitation, data gathering, and response writing.
The consultation response period ended on January 29th 2026. An analysis report is set to be published some months after the consultation has closed, summarising the findings based on all responses submitted. It will be published on the Scottish Government website.
