About Sarah

Sarah joined Innovation Unit in 2009, and has led the organisation since 2012, currently co-leading with the brilliant Matthew Horne.

Sarah has dedicated her whole career to reducing inequalities and putting people at the heart of change in their communities. She believes that everyone should have a voice in the decisions that affect their lives and strives to live up to these values herself.

Sarah has always been passionate about radical change that makes a difference in the real world - not tweaking around the edges. This is why she leads our work on system change, and supporting Combined Authorities to improve thousands of lives.

Before joining Innovation Unit, Sarah was Director of Strategy for the New York Public Library system, and also worked for Demos and the Overseas Development Institute.

Sarah has recently been finding her political voice, to take action directly on reducing the ever-worsening inequalities all around us. She is a Councillor in the City of London, where she lives, and stood as a parliamentary candidate at the last election. When she’s not trying to change the world, she can be found hanging out with her two wonderful children and husband, bouldering, mountain biking and watching escapist TV.
