About Laura
Laura brings together lived experience and professional experience in her work across Greater Manchester since joining Innovation Unit in 2024.
She has always held deep faith in people and sought out changes that make people’s lives better; as a teenager, she brought her own lived experience to campaign for better mental health services and co-led the successful campaign for Greater Manchester’s Youth Combined Authority. Her passion lies in the potential of co-production to tackle inequalities by refocusing systems for social and economic justice.
Laura builds connections with and between communities, practitioners, and leaders. Beginning as an apprentice for a charity supporting young carers, she then sought to make change as an elected councillor for her community where she served as vice-chair of the children’s committee, before returning to supporting young people through school based mental health programmes. Most recently, at Unlimited Potential, she led a range of innovation projects harnessing co-production, community-led asset mapping, and enabling people to reimagine the purpose of their town centre.
A proud Salfordian who has always called the City home, Laura spends her free time with the people she loves most, and her dog, in her favourite local spots and the North West’s natural beauty.
