About Janice

Janice has been an Innovation Unit Senior Associate since 2022, and supports work with children and families.

Janice works at Innovation Unit because she is deeply committed to their values and principles. These align with her own, and underpin her drive to make a difference to the lives of children, young people, families and their networks. She is passionate about strengths based, trauma-informed, restorative, relational and systemic approaches - that make a real difference in day to day lives. She believes in curiosity, listening and place-based practice, that is both co-produced and really meaningful for those needing help and support. She strongly believes in the need to work ‘with’ and ‘together’ in communities, to help reduce some of the structural inequalities in our society.

Janice has a degree in Community Studies, has been a youth worker, qualified social worker and has many years of experience working in and between local authorities. This has included the design, development and delivery of a number of national programmes for which she received an MBE for ‘services to children’. She has a large family, is a trustee and supports a number of organisations within her local community.
