About Emma
Emma joined Innovation Unit as an Innovation Consultant in May 2024 and works predominately in Innovation Unit’s Climate sector.
Emma’s practice focuses on reducing inequalities within the context of the climate crisis and barriers experienced by communities when taking climate action. Her passion continues to be grounded in the reality that those who have done the least to cause the climate crisis are the worst affected. Her work centers the importance of equity within opportunities to take action towards a just transition to new futures where no one and nowhere is left behind. Emma believes in enabling collective and equitable action to shift towards fairer and more sustainable systems.
Prior to Innovation Unit, Emma worked within the VCSE sector. She has led innovation projects that blend reducing inequalities with community climate action. Focused on food and transport systems, Emma has worked with FoodWise Leeds, the city’s Sustainable Food Partnership, the behaviour change team at national charity Sustrans, and also local community interest companies focused on bringing communities together around seasonal food growing and cooking.
Emma lives in Leeds with her partner, cat and plants. Outside of work, Emma can usually be found in her garden or up a hill on a good stomp!
