Next Practice in Resourcing Personalisation

The Innovation Challenge

Personalising learning means configuring the design, organisation, curriculum and resource allocation to support the needs of every learner, engage their interest and maximise their progress. It implies a new view of the learner as an active co-partners - together with their parents - in developing learning pathways, choices, curriculum and experiences.

Our Approach

The approach was to identify schools who were proposing innovative ways of resourcing personalisation within their schools, to support them to develop their practice and lay the foundations for a wider spread of what was successful.

We designed and ran a series of events where school representatives were invited and ideas were generated and shared. Seventeen sites were then chosen to have their ideas and proposals further developed and supported. They received dedicated support to further their ideas and help to broker connections with other schools and people who could help.

The sites were as follows:

  • Cornwallis School, Kent
  • De Ferrers Specialist Technology College, Staffordshire
  • Invicta Grammar School, Kent
  • Schome-NAGTY, National
  • The Bridge Academy, London Borough of Hammersmith & Fulham
  • Wildern School, Hampshire
  • Bridgemary Community Sports College, Hampshire
  • John Cabot Academy, South Gloucestershire
  • Leasowes Community College, Dudley
  • The Southernway Federation, Devon
  • The Inclusion Trust, Hertfordshire
  • Bolton & Bedfordshire Local Authorities
  • Cramlington Community High School, Northumberland
  • Crosshall Junior School, Cambridgeshire
  • Thomas Hardye School, Dorset
  • Villiers High School, London Borough of Ealing
  • Homewood School, Hugh Christie Technology College & Hollingworth College, Kent

Outcomes

How To Guides were developed with almost all sites to allow others to learn from what they have done. These are made available through the Next Practice Acceleration Space.

Tools & processes

Various tools and products were used to support the sites including:

  • Delta 6
  • Looking to Learn
  • Bridge Change Leadership Framework
