Radical Efficiency: different, better, lower cost

Radical Efficiency about public service innovations that deliver different, much better outcomes for users at significantly lower cost. It is about generating new perspectives on old problems to enable a change to the services on offer and a transformation of the user experience.

We were funded by the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts NESTA to see if it was genuinely possibly to deliver more for less. We examined a number of global case studies that offered much better outcomes for their users. They all did this whilst delivering between 20-60% cost savings at the same time. They represent a wide range of services from health and crime to worklessness solutions. What they have in common is that they all developed radically different solutions,  rather than tweaking existing service models.

We took the top ten of these case studies and really examined what it was that made them so powerful. We developed a model that we believed would enable us to deliver these radically different, better, lower cost, in any service. Does it work?We tested this out in our Transforming Early Years programme, working with local authorities around the UK, and our sites developed new service models that are demonstrating significant savings as well as doing more for families. We are now working with many more organisations delivering public services to help them deliver different, better, lower cost publics services in the UK.

We have written practical "how to" guide to implementing Radical Efficiency in your organisation and are about to release a new publication to help those wishing to undertake this radical work understand what it takes. Contact us to receive this as soon as it becomes available.
