Aviv Katz

Partner, co-head of Service Design
Aviv leads our team of designers, specialising in service design, research and creative production. He is our resident expert in service design and is a trained designer and social researcher.

Aviv has extensive experience of working as a service designer - planning and running creative and collaborative projects across a range of sectors, including education, health, justice, social care, local government and transport. He is an advocate of design thinking - using design methods to stimulate behaviour change and deliver innovations - and leads our work on Labs and co-leads the Studiu.

Before joining us he worked for Engine Service Design, where he led innovation projects such as designing a social innovation lab, designing a biometrically-enabled immigration service and running ethnographic fieldwork relating to childhood obesity. Before that he worked at the Design Council, developing and running projects spanning business, innovation, and design, and was instrumental in the development of a national skills strategy for the design sector.

Aviv tried to set up a car washing business at the age of 8 but it failed due to low market awareness of the USP. The He still maintains the business could have succeeded, but he has learned his lessons and has been implementing them successfully elsewhere ever since.
