Innovation Unit tools cover a range of subjects and most can be used with either large or small groups. Before we share our tools with people, we like to understand about their proposed use. When requesting a copy of one or more of our tools please can you let us know what you plan to use it (them) for, the name of your organisation and what problems and challenges you face in making innovation happen in your organisation? This helps us think about how we might develop new tools to meet differing challenges. Innovation Unit is a not for profit social enterprise committed to helping leaders in public services to innovate and we are therefore happy to make tools available for free on the basis they are for non-commercial use. If you are seeking to use our tools as part of a commercial programme of work, please let us know and we would be happy to discuss an arrangment which includes a non-exclusive licence fee to cover usage which we would reinvest in development of new tools. People taking part in the Futuresight events are encouraged to look at trends in society that are likely to affect the future of schools, consider what impact combinations of these trends could have on the future shape of schooling and then construct a 'preferred future' based on their own beliefs and values. Finally, people are encouraged to reflect on the differences between their current reality and their preferred futures and to indentify what is going to speed them and up, and what is going to slow them down. A freestanding Futuresight programme is now available to schools, networks and partnerships. It has been developed in partnership with the OECD, NCSL, Demos and Innovation Unit. It builds on a set of scenarios developed from OECD trends and offers extensive workshop materials for disciplined and creative thinking about the future.
