Teaching Awards 2005

Peter Wright with Melvyn Bragg

In 2005 The Innovation Unit sponsored the Lifetime Achievement Award.

Our congratulations go to Peter Wright who won The Innovation Unit's Award for Lifetime Achievement.

Peter has now retired after 25 years as the head of Hazel Oak, an all-age range special school.

After spending eight years teaching craft, design and technology in mainstream education he decided to move into special education. As the head of Hazel Oak School, Peter consistently demonstrated a passion both for special education and for his school that is unrivalled, infectious and inspirational. One of major successes at the school has been the remarkable ethos and environment of respect for others that guides staff and pupils.
