Wigan

Wigan Local Authority wanted to develop further a proposed model for area service delivery involving clusters of schools and their interface with Children and Young People's Services.

The key tasks were to:

• develop the Headteachers understanding of the purpose of locality based multi-agency partnerships
• develop a model for locality based multi-agency partnerships for the Headteachers to present for consideration by the Wigan Partnership for Children, Young People and Families
• bring together all potential partners within the locality to test our the proposed model
• develop the Headteachers as 'ambassadors' for the new model.

Working with one of Wigan's most challenged areas, a variety of tools and workshop materials were used to build local ownership and consensus around some key steps forward.
