Breast Bauble - Breast Cancer Awareness Bauble

I have just come from a meeting with Lizzie Hamilton, who is the NECLES HIEC * Fellow in maternity. Innovation Unit are working with Lizzie and the rest of the HIEC maternity team to support a group of midwives and obstetricians in 12 maternity units to promote normal birth and reduce caesarean rates sections. The project is going incredibly well, and some really promising stories and case studies will be appearing on the blog soon. But right now I want to promote another worthwhile project that Lizzie works on (as though she wasn't busy enough). Lizzie has designed and launched the Breast Bauble - beautiful hand-painted Christmas baubles that are, you guessed it, shaped like breasts.

‘Breast Bauble’ is a special and unique organisation formed to contribute to raising public awareness of the health benefits of breastfeeding for women, and to increase social acceptance in protecting them from pre menopausal breast cancer. The longer a woman breastfeeds, the greater her protection against breast cancer. 20% of the sales of the product go to The Pink Ribbon Foundation and the Breast Bauble has already been shortlisted for Gift of the Year 2011. They will be on sale for Christmas 2011, so make sure your tree has one!    * North East London, North Central London and Essex Health Innovation Education Cluster (NECLES HIEC)
